Day 1 – Arrival in Chennai
Upon arrival at Chennai International Airport, students will begin their educational journey with a visit to the Birla Planetarium and Periyar Science & Technology Centre, where they can experience interactive exhibits and astronomy shows. Later, they will explore the Guindy National Park and Snake Park to learn about biodiversity and conservation. In the evening, there will be a short cultural orientation before an overnight stay in Chennai.
Day 2 – Chennai – Industries & Technology
After breakfast, the group will proceed to the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M) for a campus tour and interaction with innovation labs (subject to prior approval). In the afternoon, they will explore Chennai’s industrial hub with a visit to a major factory, such as Hyundai or Ashok Leyland, to learn about automobile engineering and production. The evening will be free for leisure at Marina Beach, followed by an overnight stay in Chennai.
Day 3 – Chennai → Mahabalipuram → Pondicherry
In the morning, students will travel to Mahabalipuram (60 km / 1.5 hrs) to witness the UNESCO World Heritage monuments that showcase ancient engineering and stone architecture. The journey then continues to Pondicherry (100 km / 2.5 hrs), where they will visit Auroville and the Matrimandir, an international community dedicated to sustainable living, renewable energy, and eco-friendly innovation. The day concludes with an evening workshop on sustainable innovations, followed by an overnight stay in Pondicherry.
Day 4 – Pondicherry → Chennai Departure
On the final day, the group will visit the Pondicherry Science Centre & Planetarium, which offers exciting exhibits on robotics, energy, and physics. After the visit, they will return to Chennai (160 km / 3.5 hrs) for departure from Chennai International Airport, concluding the Science & Innovation Tour.
