DAY 01: AMRITSAR ARRIVAL

Upon reaching Amritsar International Airport, our VTSPL Tour Manager will provide guidance regarding the upcoming tour arrangements and necessary documents. They will also ensure your transfer to the hotel and facilitate your overnight stay.

DAY 02: AMRITSAR

After breakfast, visit the Golden Temple, Akal Takht Sahib, Durgiana Mandir, and Mata Lal Davi Mandir. Enjoy a complimentary lunch at the Golden Temple. In the evening, experience the renowned 'Retreat' ceremony at Wagah Border, featuring a choreographed parade and flag-lowering by Indian and Pakistani soldiers. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Amritsar.

1. Golden Temple: Also known as Sri Harmandir Sahib, the Golden Temple is the holiest shrine in Sikhism, located in Amritsar. It's known for its stunning architecture and the sacred Amrit Sarovar (pool of nectar) surrounding it.

2. Akal Takht Sahib: Adjacent to the Golden Temple, Akal Takht is one of the five power seats for the Sikhs. It holds significant religious and political importance.

3. Durgiana Mandir: This Hindu temple, dedicated to Goddess Durga, resembles the Golden Temple in its architecture. It's a place of religious harmony and attracts devotees from various backgrounds.

4. Mata Lal Davi Mandir: This is another revered Hindu temple in Amritsar, dedicated to Mata Lal Devi. It's known for its spiritual significance and architectural beauty.

5. Wagah Border 'Retreat' Ceremony: The Wagah Border, dividing India and Pakistan, hosts a daily ceremonial closing of the border gates at sunset. The parade involves highly synchronized movements by armed soldiers from both countries. The lowering of flags and changing guards symbolize the end of the day and exhibit patriotic fervor. It's a popular tourist attraction showcasing the military traditions of both nations.

DAY 03: AMRITSAR

Start your day with breakfast at the hotel, then explore a series of Gurudwaras, such as Gurudwara Goindwal Sahib, Khadoor Sahib, Gurudwara Baba Buddha Sahib, and Gurudwara Tarn Taran Sahib. At one of the Gurudwaras, partake in Langar. Afterward, tour the Jallianwala Bagh. The remainder of the half-day is yours for leisure and shopping. Relax and spend the night at your Amritsar hotel.

1. Gurudwara Goindwal Sahib: Located in Goindwal, near Amritsar, this Gurudwara holds historical significance as the place where Guru Amar Das, the third Sikh Guru, composed the "Japji Sahib," the morning prayer of the Sikhs. The Gurudwara is also known for its Baoli (well with 84 steps), which is considered sacred by Sikhs.

2. Khadoor Sahib: Situated in the town of Khadoor Sahib, it is associated with Guru Angad Dev Ji, the second Sikh Guru. The Gurudwara is dedicated to commemorating the Guru's visits to this place.

3. Gurudwara Baba Buddha Sahib: Located near the village of Bir Sahib in Amritsar, this Gurudwara is dedicated to Baba Buddha Ji, a revered figure in Sikh history who played a significant role during the time of Guru Nanak and successive Gurus.

4. Gurudwara Tarn Taran Sahib: Situated in Tarn Taran, this Gurudwara has the largest sarovar (water tank) among all Sikh shrines. Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Sikh Guru, built it. The Gurudwara is known for its healing properties, and pilgrims believe in the sacredness of its waters.

5. Langar: In Sikhism, Langar refers to the community kitchen in a Gurudwara where free meals are provided to all visitors, regardless of their religion, caste, or creed. It reflects the Sikh principles of equality and community service.

6. Jallianwala Bagh: This historical site in Amritsar is infamous for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre that occurred on April 13, 1919, during the British colonial era. General Dyer ordered troops to open fire on a peaceful gathering, resulting in hundreds of casualties. The site is now a public garden and a memorial to those who lost their lives in the tragic incident.

DAY 04: AMRITSAR TOUR & DEPARTURE

Following breakfast, venture out to discover captivating shopping spots. Amritsar is renowned for its authentic handicrafts and handwoven goods like phulkari, lacquered woodwork, and jewelry. The city offers a variety of appealing items, including Punjabi suits, woolen attire, and Patiala salwar suits. In the later part of the day, head to Amritsar Airport for your next destination. This concludes the tour.

1. Phulkari: Phulkari is a traditional embroidery art form from Punjab, including Amritsar. It involves vibrant and intricate floral patterns stitched on fabric, often on shawls, dupattas, or garments. The word "Phulkari" itself means "flower work," reflecting the prevalent use of floral motifs.

2. Lacquered Woodwork: Lacquered woodwork involves applying a protective and decorative layer of lacquer to wooden surfaces. In Amritsar, this craft often features intricate designs and vibrant colors, creating visually appealing furniture, decorative pieces, and utensils.

3. Jewelry: Amritsar is known for its unique jewelry designs, including pieces crafted in gold, silver, and other metals. Traditional and cultural motifs are often incorporated into the designs, making Amritsari jewelry distinctive.

These handicrafts and handwoven goods showcase the region's rich cultural heritage and artistic traditions. Visitors to Amritsar can purchase these items as souvenirs or appreciate them for their cultural significance and craftsmanship.
