Day 1: Arrival at Trichy – Local Temple Sightseeing (No meals)
Upon arrival at Trichy Airport, you will be warmly welcomed and begin your journey by visiting the famous Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple at Srirangam (approximately 10 km / 30 minutes), one of the largest functioning temples in the world. Later, proceed to the Rockfort Temple and Ucchi Pillayar Temple (6 km / 20 minutes), situated on a hillock that offers a panoramic view of the city. In the evening, visit the sacred Jambukeswarar Temple at Thiruvanaikaval (8 km / 25 minutes), a renowned Shiva temple representing the element of water. Overnight stay in Trichy.
Day 2: Trichy → Tanjore (60 km / 1.5 hrs drive) (B)
After breakfast, drive to Tanjore, also known as the “Rice Bowl of Tamil Nadu,” a city famous for its classical art and temples. On arrival, visit the magnificent Brihadeeswarar Temple (Big Temple), a UNESCO World Heritage site built by Raja Raja Chola I. Explore the historic Saraswathi Mahal Library and Palace, which houses rare manuscripts and paintings. Later, take a walk around the Royal Palace complex and Art Gallery to admire the rich heritage of Chola architecture. Spend a relaxed evening exploring the local surroundings of Tanjore town. Day 3: Tanjore → Madurai (190 km / 4 hrs drive) (B)
This morning, check out and proceed to Madurai, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. The drive will take you through the scenic countryside of Tamil Nadu. On arrival in Madurai, check in at the hotel and later in the evening, enjoy darshan at the grand Meenakshi Amman Temple, renowned for its towering gopurams and intricate carvings. After temple darshan, stroll through Puthu Mandapam Market, a lively place for local shopping and souvenirs. Overnight stay in Madurai.
Day 4: Full Day Excursion in Madurai (50 km / 2 hrs total driving) (B)
Today is dedicated to exploring the divine temples in and around Madurai. In the morning, visit the sacred Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple (10 km / 30 minutes), one of the six abodes of Lord Murugan. Later, drive to the beautiful hill temples of Alagar Koil and Pazhamudhircholai Murugan Temple (20 km / 45 minutes), both surrounded by greenery and natural beauty. In the evening, spend some peaceful time at Mariamman Teppakulam Tank, followed by a relaxed walk through the local bazaar area to experience Madurai’s vibrant culture. Overnight stay in Madurai.
Day 5: Madurai → Chennai (Option: By Road 460 km / 7.5 hrs OR By Flight/Train via Trichy) (B) After breakfast, depart from Madurai and head towards Chennai. For those preferring road travel, the journey is approximately 460 km, taking 7.5 hours by highway. Alternatively, for a less tiring option, you may drive to Trichy (140 km / 3 hrs) and then take a short flight or train to Chennai (1 hour), making the journey smoother and quicker. Upon arrival in Chennai, check into the hotel. In the evening, visit the famous Marina Beach, the second-longest beach in the world, to enjoy the sunset and evening breeze. Overnight stay in Chennai.
Day 6: Chennai City Tour (Approx. 100 km round trip / 4 hrs driving) (B)
After breakfast, proceed for a full-day sightseeing tour of Chennai. Begin with a visit to the ancient Kapaleeshwarar Temple in Mylapore, followed by a trip to the historic Santhome Cathedral Basilica, which is built over the tomb of St. Thomas the Apostle. Later, explore Fort St. George, the first English fortress in India, and the Government Museum, which boasts a rich collection of artifacts. In the evening, enjoy shopping at T. Nagar market for traditional silk sarees and jewelry, or spend time at the modern Phoenix Market City Mall, featuring international brands and dining options. Overnight stay in Chennai.
Day 7: Chennai → Mahabalipuram Excursion & Departure (120 km round trip / 3.5 hrs) (B)
On the last day of your journey, take a morning excursion to the coastal town of Mahabalipuram, located about 60 km / 1.5 hrs one way from Chennai. Here, explore the Shore Temple overlooking the Bay of Bengal, the magnificent Five Rathas (Pancha Rathas) rock-cut monuments, and the famous bas-relief of Arjuna’s Penance. After sightseeing, return to Chennai in the afternoon. Later, you will be transferred to Chennai Airport for your onward journey, carrying with you divine memories of Tamil Nadu.
