7 Days 6 Nights Yamunotri-Gangotri Yatra Tour Package
Day 01: Delhi - Haridwar (230 kms/6-7hrs)
Arrival at Delhi Airport/Railway Station, where you will meet and be assisted further as you drive to Haridwar. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. If time permits, visit Bharat Mata Mandir, Bhuma Niketan, India Temple, Pawan Dham, Doodhadhari Temple, and more. Later, head to Har-ki-Pauri for the Ganga Aarti. This moving ritual involves worshipping the Ganga with lamps that float serenely in the water after sunset. Afterward, return to your hotel for an overnight stay. Haridwar, resting at the foot of the Shivaliks, is steeped in history. It is known as the place where Prince Bhagirath performed penance to bring the Ganga to Earth to save the souls of his ancestors. Many devotees come here to pray for their departed elders in the sacred waters. Weather: It is hot in summer, with temperatures ranging from 35-40°C. In winter, it cools down to pleasant days and cold nights (20°C to 5°C).
Day 02: Haridwar - Barkot (210 kms/7-8hrs)
Drive to Barkot via Mussoorie, stopping at Kempty Falls (recommended lunch here as there are limited dining options afterward). Continue straight to Barkot and check into your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax and prepare for the Yamunotri trek the following day.
Barkot offers scenic beauty, apple orchards, and views of the Bandar Poonch mountains. It is an essential stop on the journey to Yamunotri and Gangotri, both significant Char Dham pilgrimage sites. Weather: Pleasant in summer (25-30°C), but cool nights (10°C to 5°C).
Day 03: Barkot - Yamunotri - Barkot (38 kms drive & 6 kms Trek each way)
Start early with a drive to Jankichatti/Phoolchatti, where your trek to Yamunotri (6 kms) begins. You can walk, hire a horse, or use a Doli at your own expense. The trek winds through lush valleys rich with conifers, rhododendrons, and Himalayan shrubs.
Once at Yamunotri, you can cook rice in the hot water of the kund and take it home as 'Prasad.' After offering prayers at the temple and bathing in the warm waters, trek back to Jankichatti and return to Barkot for the night. Yamunotri is the source of the Yamuna River, and Maharani Gularia of Jaipur built its temple in the 19th century.
Weather: Summer temperatures range from 10 to 18°C, with pleasant days but chilly nights.
Day 04: Barkot - Uttarkashi (90 kms/4 hrs)
Travel to Uttarkashi. Visit the Vishwanath Temple and others before checking in at your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.
Uttarkashi is known for its temples and ashrams and is situated on the banks of the Ganges. The Vishwanath Temple, re-constructed in 1857, is a major attraction, along with the Shakti Temple nearby.
Weather: Hot in summer (30-35°C), pleasant nights, and cold in winter.
Day 05: Uttarkashi - Gangotri - Uttarkashi (100 kms/3-4 hrs each way)
Early morning, drive to Gangotri. On your way, stop at Gangnani for a dip in the Garam Kund, then continue to Gangotri via the beautiful Harsil Valley. At Gangotri, take a holy dip in the river, perform Puja, and enjoy some time in the serene surroundings. Return to Uttarkashi for an overnight stay. The Gangotri Temple, constructed by Amar Singh Thapa, is where the Ganga is said to have emerged.
Day 06: Uttarkashi - Rishikesh (170 kms/4-5 hrs)
Drive to Rishikesh, known for its spiritual significance. Check into your hotel and visit various temples and sights, including Laxman Jhula, Ram Jhula, Triveni Ghat, Bharat Mandir, and Shivananda Ashram. Bharat Mandir is the oldest temple here, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and Laxman Jhula is a renowned hanging bridge with a rich mythology.
Day 07: Rishikesh - Haridwar - Delhi (250 kms/7-8 hrs)
